Cyclical as the Inner Circle

I am often asked my opinion of “new” magical techniques that surface now and then around the world. Some are simply restatements of magical masters such as Crowley, repackaged to seem as though a true breakthrough has occurred. As one digs deeper into the subject matter, it becomes abundantly clear that the “new” is not so new after all.

There are however, those few unpolished gems of magical knowledge that emerge from time to time. Despite an ever-present undercurrent of banter and conjecture, pearls of wisdom overcome gravity to float to the surface of our beloved Black Thaumaturgy.

To Over-Cum Is Divine

In the vast darkness of ignorance, very few embrace the laboriously onerous path of the true sorcerer of the Dark Arts. In this “path of least resistance” age, the truth is purged from the would-be diabolist, to be replaced by illusions. I just realized: I sound like an old man speaking of “the good old days”. I digress……

One basic tenet has remained true through the ages, allowing the separation of wheat and chaff; the cycle of magic always comes full circle. For those who raise her/his eyes from the work, a glimpse of the familiar is likely while others can not recognize what they have never seen. It is simply foreign and confusing concepts, better explained by attacking and attempting to discredit the truth. Is it their pathology to ignore the obvious; moving our beloved magic so far back into the dark ages? Would it surely be easier for a monkey to explain algebra?

A Logician of Tautology

Magic is a science and as such, it is based upon many principles and scientific methods such as chemistry, mathematics, probability and other qualified disciplines. For those who mistakenly believe waiving their arms while reciting a spell will change reality and grant their wishes, have truly missed the virtue of my message. In order to receive, one must earn. This premise, though it may sound abstracted, is as true today as it has always been.

My point is not ad hominem (or ad feminam); I sincerely wish the matter to be considered and vetted with logic. The application of wisdom and person experience may overcome a fallacious paradox, allowing Achilles to win a marathon.

Reductio ad Absurdum

So, as I end my recent dormancy, do I strike a chord? Have I succeeded in planting a seed of knowledge or inspired those of magical talent to persevere? Have I reached the Magus-to-be with my challenge to go further and strive for what lies underneath? As any good scientist must, test this hypothesis in your study and performance of magical workings to remove any possible modus tollens to reveal the true syllogism.
